Sharing works

Neda Kovinić pursued her PhD in performance and documentary installations, at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade. She has the Master of Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, and the Master of Interior design at the Faculty of the Applied Arts in Belgrade, Serbia.

Since 1996, she has been exhibiting at solo and group exhibitions in Serbia and abroad. She has made ambient installations, thus forming art basis close to conceptual art. In her recent projects, she has been trying to face the facts of the multitude of temporality and the space of global capitalism. She explored types of escapism in artificial autonomies, the space of escape and retreat, especially in former Yugoslavia after the wars and the rise of nationalism.
Her latest works are based on creating networks between artists of conceptual dance and various nationalities, dance backgrounds and age, in order to create the practice of togetherness, care, and the exploration of social, political and art-political issues.
With her practice she questions how body politics, social relations, power structures and ecology are inscribed into bodies and how this in turn shapes our movements in space. She is particularly interested in how practices of sharing, togetherness,

empathy, and even humour can take shape within installations—either as an

extension of, or as a counterpoint to, the material world of galleries, museums, and

public space.

Her installations often center on textiles—linen pieces, recycled or newly painted, sometimes printed with words or sentences—that serve both as costumes and exhibition objects. She combines them with natural and playful materials such as soil, branches, shells, stones, or clay. Sound and video add further layers: recordings of conversations, songs, waves, or protests, alongside video documents of site explorations and urban choreographies.

She usually begins her collaborations with dance-based exercises and talks that foster connection, creating an affective weave between performers, audiences, memories, and spaces. In performance, these elements fold into one another, forming a larger, self-weaving content that draws participants in while leaving space for their own interpretations.

What remains afterward are objects, textiles, and recordings—sometimes as installations, sometimes as videos, sometimes re-entering the cycle of future works. For her, nothing is ever fixed; no installation, video, or performance is ever the same.
